The Moon
EARTH’S MOON
The Moon is Earth’s only natural satellite and the only extraterrestrial celestial body that humans have visited.
The Moon’s surface is full of craters. A characteristic feature of the surface are the large “oceans”, craters filled with solidified lava.
The Moon rotates around its axis at exactly the same speed as it orbits the Earth, which means that we always see the same side of the Moon. The distance, in turn, makes it appear to be exactly the same size as the Sun.
